Tadaah
Tadaah is a marketplace where childcare professionals can apply for assignments. They asked me to design a new overview page where users can see assignments and take quick actions. They needed a new design that would better serve their bigger customers.
Background
Tadaah helps childcare organisations to find freelance professionals quickly. Some customers of Tadaah have over 20 or more jobs per day. They manage these assignments from the assignments home screen where they need to have access to quick actions like removing assignments, searching and/or selecting professionals and changing assignments. The previous iteration was aimed at helping the small customer base at the time. Those customers were not that big and thus the previous iterations was not scalable or flexible enough.
Research
My research encompassed qualitative and quantitative steps. First of all I jumped into the data to see if all the assumptions made by the team were correct. It was very apparent that their growth had been mainly in big customers, both from a absolute numbers as well as in daily active users. The page had grown massively in users, specifically by users from companies with multiple locations.
Next to that, I spoke with some customers in a round table session about the feature. The session was mostly unscripted and we just talked about their experience. Those insights were bundled into a affinity map. This is a great tool for synthesizing feedback as well as creating more empathy with end users.
With these insights in hand, I presented my findings and came up with the following goal: How can we tailor more towards high-volume clients while also still supporting smaller clients?
Ideate
Based on my initial research and question, I came up with multiple different variants. I worked in a low fidelity set up which enables me to move fast without caring too much about visual details. I came up with three variants and demo’d these to stakeholders. Based on their feedback we selected two, which I improved before getting their approval and moving on.
Test
After selecting two based on feedback from the initial three options, I started work on some high-fidelity designs. I created some of the most basic screens first, because I wanted to have a prototype to show to users.
Development
The designs were created in Figma so developers were able to easily inspect elements. Next to that everything was build from component which made their work a lot easier. I worked very closely with the team to help out with any missing information to make sure implementation went as smooth as possible.
Conclusion & Takeaways
The end result combined two of the earlier variants that I worked on. From users feedback we learned that they valued both options equally and both had their benefits. The table option is great for selecting multiple assignments and editing in bulk. The grid view is visually more appealing and helps to get an overview.
